Senior Method Engineer — Civil Works, Infrastructure & Marine Works – UAE

Employer: Confidential
Location: UAE
Employment type: Full time
Work arrangement: On-site

Overview

A construction method needs to work beyond the drawing. It must fit the site, the available resources and the sequence in which the project will be delivered.

Cabo Norte welcomes experienced Senior Method Engineers for potential opportunities with general contractors and specialist subcontractors delivering civil works, infrastructure and marine construction projects in the United Arab Emirates.

The purpose of this role is to develop practical construction methods that support safe, efficient and predictable execution. You connect engineering decisions with equipment selection, temporary works, logistics and site operations.

Depending on the contractor, your scope may include major civil structures, transport infrastructure, utilities, port developments or marine works.

The principal challenge is defining an executable approach where access, ground conditions, equipment capacity and programme constraints influence each other.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyse project requirements, design information and site constraints to develop appropriate construction methods.
  • Prepare method statements, construction sequences and supporting technical documentation.
  • Compare execution alternatives and assess their implications for resources, programme, cost and risk.
  • Define requirements for plant, specialist equipment, access arrangements and site logistics.
  • Coordinate temporary works requirements with the responsible designers and reviewers.
  • Work with structural, geotechnical and other engineering specialists to resolve execution constraints.
  • Support tender teams with methods, equipment assumptions and realistic productivity input.
  • Coordinate with planning engineers to translate the proposed method into a workable sequence.
  • Identify critical interfaces between construction activities, specialist subcontractors and existing operations.
  • Work with QHSE specialists to incorporate appropriate controls into the execution approach.
  • Support site teams during mobilisation and implementation, adapting methods when conditions change.
  • Capture lessons from actual execution and use them to improve future methods.

Business And Technical Challenges

  • Developing methods from incomplete design information or uncertain site conditions.
  • Selecting equipment that fits both the technical requirements and the available working space.
  • Coordinating permanent works, temporary works and construction stages.
  • Managing access, lifting, transport and material flows on constrained sites.
  • Accounting for groundwater, tides, weather or ground behaviour where relevant.
  • Establishing credible productivity assumptions for unfamiliar or complex activities.
  • Changing the execution approach without creating unresolved design or safety implications.
  • Making technical instructions clear enough for supervisors and site teams to apply.

Required Experience

  • Demonstrated experience developing construction methods for civil works, infrastructure or marine projects.
  • An engineering background with a practical understanding of construction execution.
  • Experience preparing method statements, construction sequences and equipment proposals.
  • Ability to assess constructability and identify constraints affecting site operations.
  • Working knowledge of temporary works interfaces and staged construction.
  • Experience collaborating with designers, planners, site teams and specialist subcontractors.
  • Ability to explain the programme and cost implications of different methods.
  • A relevant engineering qualification.
  • Professional English communication and technical writing skills.

Preferred Experience

  • UAE or wider GCC construction experience.
  • Exposure to major structures, deep excavations, heavy lifting, port works or marine construction.
  • Experience supporting both tender preparation and live project execution.
  • Familiarity with digital modelling or visualisation of construction sequences.
  • Experience assessing specialist plant and equipment capabilities.
  • Practical site experience that informs engineering decisions.
  • Experience mentoring engineers and reviewing their method proposals.
  • Experience working with international project teams and specialist subcontractors.

Seniority And Working Approach

  • Challenges assumptions before they become execution commitments.
  • Seeks input from the people who will carry out the work.
  • Makes the limits and dependencies of a method explicit.
  • Recognises when specialist design or review is required.
  • Communicates complex sequences through clear documentation and discussion.
  • Responds constructively when site conditions require a different approach.
  • Takes ownership of the technical quality and practicality of the proposed method.

Expected Outcomes

  • Construction methods that reflect actual site constraints and delivery requirements.
  • Clearer equipment, temporary works and logistics requirements.
  • Better alignment between methods, estimates and construction programmes.
  • Earlier identification of execution risks and unresolved interfaces.
  • Practical documentation that supports mobilisation and site supervision.
  • More informed comparisons between alternative construction approaches.
  • Lessons from execution incorporated into future projects and tenders.

Location And Eligibility

  • Target location: United Arab Emirates.
  • Sector scope: Civil works, infrastructure or marine construction, depending on the opportunity.
  • Employer environment: General contractors and specialist subcontractors.
  • Required language: Professional English.
  • Travel: May include project visits and coordination meetings within the UAE; wider travel depends on the role.
  • Employment terms and work authorisation: To be confirmed for each specific opportunity.
